Book a spot
Ever wanted to give stand-up comedy a go? If so you can either get in touch with us or just head over to our online booking system and request a spot for one of our open mic nights.
Getting started
To get started you have a couple of options. You can do a stand-up comedy course or you can just start writing some material. Most open mic nights have a set length of 5 - 6 minutes. If you don't have that much material that's fine. You don't have to use all of that time.
If you're going to do a stand-up comedy course we recommend the New Zealand Comedy School they offer a comprehensive 4-week course as well as free online classes and one-on-one writing sessions.
If you're going to start writing your own material we would recommend getting a notebook and using that to write your material in. There are multiple resources online that can help you with writing material, here are a couple of resources that will help you get started.
- Comedy Writing Workbook (New Zealand Comedy School)
- How to Write Stand-Up Comedy in 6 Easy Steps (Master Class)
